Dr. Kim Emery
Veterinarian and Medical Director
The majority of Dr. Kim Emery’s after-school activities while growing up were related to animals. She raised rabbits, sheep, and even a goose for the 4-H organization, and was also involved in raising a puppy for the Guide Dogs for the Blind program. She’s known that she wanted to help animals as a veterinary professional for as long as she can remember!

Dr. Emery is originally from Southern California, her veterinary career began there when she started volunteering for a local animal clinic during high school. She then attended the California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, earning her Bachelor’s degree in animal science, before working locally for several years as a veterinary assistant. Next, Dr. Emery headed overseas to attend veterinary school in Dublin, Ireland. She remained there for six years while finishing her degree and interning in small animal medicine.
Dr. Emery joined the Linwood Animal Clinic family in the summer of 2007 after she and her family moved to the Portland area. Her favorite pars of the job is puppy and kitten visits-for her, there’s nothing better than seeing how quickly a bond forms between a new pet and their owner. Dr. Emery is proud to be the first to educate pet owners on the importance of preventative care, proper socialization and training. In 2019, Dr. Emery became certified in veterinary acupuncture. She enjoys helping senior pets with their arthritis and mobility issues.
Dr. Emery lives with her twin son and daughter, one dog, one cat and 2 geckos named Neville and Dazzle. When she isn’t spending time with her family and pets or tending to animals here at the clinic, Dr. Emery enjoys camping, paddle boarding, reading, traveling and participating in 10K’s and half-marathons.
