Respect Your Cat Day

Did you know that there’s a special kitty holiday coming up? March 28th is Respect Your Cat Day! Read on as a Happy Valley, OR vet offers tips on showing your feline overlord the respect she is due.

Good Food

Proper nutrition is crucial to your cat’s health and well-being. Get Fluffy the best cat food you can afford, and keep her dishes clean. Treats are fine, but don’t go overboard with fattening snacks. If your furball becomes obese, she could face some very serious health issues!

Although your feline buddy may spend the vast majority of her time napping, Fluffy can’t sleep all of the time. Make sure that your kitty has lots of fun toys to play with when she’s actually awake. Kitties all have their own tastes, so pay attention to what your pet likes the most. We also recommend playing with your cat every day. This will be fun for you both!

Clean Facilities

One way to show your cat due respect is to keep her litterbox nice and clean. No one likes a dirty bathroom!

Kitty Comforts

It’s very easy to make your home fun and cozy for your pet. Get your four-legged buddy some kitty furniture, such as a cat tower or pet tent. This will give your furry friend another napping spot and a place to explore. A good window view is also beneficial. If you leave Fluffy home alone, take steps to make her alone time more comfortable. Leave a TV or radio on for her, and offer her a comfy window seat with a good view.

Veterinary Care

We know, Fluffy would probably rather take a nap than visit us. We don’t take it personally: we understand that our feline pals would generally prefer to stay in their own domains! However, proper veterinary care is very important to your furry buddy’s health and well-being. Follow your vet’s recommended appointment schedule.

Cats can form very close bonds with their owners. Make sure that your cute pet feels loved and safe by spending quality time with her. Pay attention to Fluffy: talk to her, play with her, and pet her. These things will keep that little motor going. Kitty purrs are truly special gifts!

Please contact us, your local Happy Valley, OR pet hospital, for all of your cat’s veterinary care needs. We are happy to help!
